Winter Drawing Workshops 2018

Suitable for all levels

January 19th and February 2nd                                                                                         10 – 4

These one day drawing workshops are informal but intensive sessions held in the studio at Holly Cottage, Rampisham, Dorset.

My approach to teaching is about freeing up expectations and enjoying the journey of discovery. I encourage participants to develop and explore their own ideas leading to exciting and unexpected outcomes. Especially helpful to artists who feel they are becoming stylised in their approach. These workshops are a way of loosening up, introducing layering marks and texture together to create expressive drawings. Equally suitable for those new to drawing who want to explore mark making in a creative environment.

We will look at some examples of ink drawings to give you an idea of what is possible. After a morning spent doing different exercises using charcoal and ink you will approach the afternoon’s drawing with a new confidence.  Working from a still life set up I will encourage, explain and demonstrate. The aim of the day is to freely make marks, looking and drawing, and looking again.

All basic materials are supplied. You are more than welcome to bring paints, pastels or any other drawing materials you’d like to use in addition to the ink and charcoal.

Tea and coffee are included but please bring your own packed lunch.

£50.00 per workshop, payable at time of booking.
